The World Forum for Democracy, held annually in Strasbourg by the Council of Europe, is a unique and dynamic platform that brings together decision-makers, activists, academics, civil society representatives, and young people to engage in open and constructive dialogue on the most urgent and complex challenges facing democracy today. Each year, the Forum convenes a diverse community of voices and perspectives, encouraging the exchange of innovative ideas, best practices, and bold solutions aimed at strengthening democratic institutions and processes. Through debates, workshops, and collaborative sessions, participants explore how democracy can be renewed and revitalised in the face of rising populism, digital disruption, social inequality, climate change, and threats to human rights.
In the World Forum for Democracy Stories, Symbiosis–Council of Europe School of Political Studies in Greece invites participants to reflect on their experiences, to share their thoughts, key takeaways, and critical reflections on the themes and discussions during the event. The WFD Stiories provide a platform for exploring how global democratic challenges resonate with local contexts in Greece and beyond, encouraging a deeper understanding of how democratic institutions, citizenship and social justice can be defended and reimagined in practice. Participants are invited to contribute in a variety of formats – from short written reflections and opinion pieces to video messages, podcasts and creative expressions.
